The Dining Room

The dining room, like the rest of the house, seems designed for a feast enjoyed by large numbers of guests rather than a small, informal meal. A large table takes up most of the available space; nine chairs are arranged around it, four on each side and one at the head. A window behind the last chair looks out over the inlet, and a sideboard flanks the table between two doors, the left leading to the main hall and the right leading to the sitting room. Doors on the opposite side of the table lead outside and to the ballroom, and a swinging door leads into the kitchen.
