Science Studies critically examines science and the dominant narratives surrounding it. These narratives include:
Science is an objective representation of nature
Western science is universal.
There is one true account of the world (Western science's).
Social progress always follows scientific development.
Science is neither culturally mediated nor politically charged.
Philosophers, anthropologists, sociologists, and scientists themselves contribute to the discipline, writing on subjects as varied as scientific revolution, feminist objectivity, and actor-network theory. Some notable thinkers include Thomas Kuhn, Donna Haraway, and Bruno Latour.
