Both feminists and Foucauldian epistemologies have foregrounded the links between knowledge and power. However, while many feminists have argued that the production of a new knowledge from a feminist standpoint is a practical and necessary goal, poststructuralist feminist epistemology follows Foucault in preferring the deconstruction of knowledge claims to the creation of positive knowledge.
