The power relations between men and women, especially struggles over the control of women's bodies, have been a key focus of feminist analysis. Feminists have always refused to limit their notion of power to one which operates within structures, and the relationship between power, knowledge and discourse, as elaborated by Foucault, paralells feminist concern with how power defines situations and subjects.
