Early Days the AP&G: The General hauling link-and-pin 4-wheel coal cars. Under a hot summer sun, a black and gold General tows two 4-wheel coal cars (Red Ball products) on a track parallel to the track for my scratchbuilt water tower and sandhouse, both of which wear the bright colors of the Albion, Pawtuxet, & Galilee Railroad -- my mythical 1880s Rhode Island line that connected the textile mills of Albion in the north with Pawtuxet (near Providence), and Galilee, a small fishing town in the south. This photograph probably dates from the early 1870s because the AP&G was still using link-and-pin couplers, which I think look nicely authentic but which can be a nightmare when there's a derailment [GPL].
