Excrement: a breakthrough in the many senses of the word. Ideologically, the celebration of offal disrupts the category of bourgeois taste. Textually, as it is continously deployed in Artauds poems, it signifies the expulsion of the interior to the exterior, the transgressive move to the outside; it is also a necessity and thus always already repetitious, continuous and supplementing. It is the Pharmakon, the excess(es) of writing, and its polysemic, semantic, play. Excrement, like the Pharmakon, is at once sacred and accursed. It must be expelled outside the body in order to purify the interior, but it must have already been in the interior. Excrement is like a medecine, as it purges the body of impurities, but it is the same time a poison.
