This all happened in a flash before I can mull over the themes in the movie to appreciate the worth of the novel(through the movie, that is) and I was probably misled by the author function which Foucault mentions as 'not universal or constant in all discourse' which is true in this particular case. As I had projected my mental image of an author
onto the author as a person(familiar with old British ways therefore must be an old reminiscent Briton) (Foucault again) This is not necessarily bad since it is our way of handling texts and since it is a common mistake there must be some usefulness to it and hence it's popularity. I mean who will carry a pair of old rusty scissors around if there was nothing to cut?

but.....then again ....
