One excellent example of a human who is indistinguishably connected with his machine and on-board communication devices is Steven Hawking, British mathematician and physicist. Hawking is equipped with a wheelchair with an on-board computer system (Hawking describes his system). This system allows him to communicate with others despite his severe case of Lou Gehrig's Disease (ALS). Hawking is a brilliant scientist and we are fortunate that this computer system gives us access to what would otherwise be inaccessible fountain of insight.
