Finely whetted trivia is almost irresistible to me. In the terms of the discussion, one might be tempted to compare it to a hard and perfect sugar crystal. And that 'one,' maybe among others, is 'me.' For the longest time I could not figure out why I enjoyed stupid (interesting) obscurities. I was too busy enjoying them. (Despite all the equivocations, I can still take things whole-heartedly.)
But any kind of sugar - even my own versions - must continue to operate in the overall economy, or the metaphor collapses and nothing much happens.
