Consistency and the Rhetoric of Arrival

Consistently using elements and screen design assists your readers by allowing them to employ clues, or orienting signals, they noticed earlier in the document.

Consistency does not require absolute uniformity. In this and the two following examples the designerhas slightly varied the position of three elements (directions, explanatory text, and QuickTime movie panel), but the letter signifiying personal commentary does not appear in one panel and the robot in another.
