R and L stay together out of fear and innertia. They like each other well enough, one might even say that they are best friends. But their relationship lacks the passion it once had. Instead of making love, most nights they just fall asleep to the t.v. They take care of each other because they feel obligated to, but neither is really interested in what the other has to say. Nonetheless, R watches the lonely women on t.v. and thinks, "God, I'm glad I'm not like that."
