Gail is an old friend of James, one of the few female friends whom he hasn't tried to sleep with. She considers this a good thing. She's been supportive of James's dabblings in the arts, and is intrigued by how enthusiastic he is about Exit, Stage Left, so she and her little brother Mark have followed James's directions and driven out to the coastal mansion he rented for the unveiling.
