Foucault

Foucault brings another perspective in the relationship between the author and the text.Ý He asserts that the author is no more in control of the ideas of the text, than the text is to the conception of the author.Ý Foucault claims that writing is not the vehicle for the author's expression of his/her emotions or ideas, since writing isn't meant to communicate from author to reader, but rather writing is the circulation of language itself, regardless of the individual existence of author or reader: "it is primarily concerned with creating an opening where the writing subject endlessly disappears".

In other words, once the words leave the pen (so to speak), the author loses control of the text and in fact does not contribute to it in any other way.Ý It is then left to the reader to attribute ideas to it.Ý How good the text is then depends not so much on the skill of the author, but on that of the reader!
