Planting trees out of the grief In Memoriam Robert Creeley

Rob's father Oscar died in 1930 and he of course didn't know that his father was badly ill, suffering from a lung disease. It was psychosomatic as my grandmother recalled later, manly because of Oscar's worries about Rob. And it was Helen, too who told me that they never had a chance to say good bye to him. The last glance they had on their father was, when he was covered under a white sheet; his soul cold as his blood. Rob, who wasn't allowed to cry didn't shed tears but he told me he did so years and years later, day after day. But when he was a kid, he retrospected, he couldn't cope with this loss in his soul.
