R is involved in a troubled love affair. L has been her lover for the last four years, but their relationship is tempestuous, unpredictable. They fight constantly, huge, angry fights, but they make up almost immediately, only to start up again at the slightest provocation. R blames L for all the problems in their relationship, L constantly finds fault in R's approach to things. They seem locked in this pattern, unable to start over, or otherwise, to break from each other.
