The trip to Venezia, as with all other international trips from Barcelona, requires a change at Port Bou. This tiny town exists for no other recognizable reason than to be where one changes trains to enter or exit eastern Spain. After waiting for an hour or so at Port Bou, the train to Venezia finally arrives. The mix of Spanish, French, Italian and others on the train is disorienting at first, but eventually you manage to fall asleep. Before you know it, it's morning, you're in Venezia, and your neck hurts like hell.
