Hypertext Rule #1

This is just one of the many ways in which hypertext should and must strive to differentiate itself from the novel; or rather, attempt not to imitate the novel, but surpass it. Hypertext cannot be read in bed: for now, that's a given. Leave the novel alone in that respect. Don't attempt to create a hypertext fiction that can be read in bed (reading in bed almost undoubtedly requires a passive reader). Instead, create the fictional piece that will replace time spent in front of the television.

Who am I talking to, you ask? You.
