The difference between writing a novel and writing hypertext is essentially simple, but of crucial significance. In order to write hypertext, an author needs a fundamental understanding of the computer, plus an understanding of its applications. Thus, from the start, only a select group of people can even write hypertext, much less write good hypertext.
